BBTM-PT Precision and Thin-Wall Ultrasonic Thickness Probe

BBTM-PT precision ultrasonic thickness probes with standard and small contact tips

Product Overview

The BBTM-PT is designed for ultrasonic thickness measurement of thin sheets, thin-wall tubing, small components, curved parts, and areas with limited contact access. Its near-surface resolution supports measurement of metals, plastics, composites, pipes, and turbine blades. It can also measure localized wall thickness from the bottom of an external corrosion pit.

Multiple frequency, element size, delay line, and contact-tip configurations are available to suit the acoustic properties, thickness, curvature, contact area, and resolution requirements of the test material.

Key Features

  • Precision thickness measurement for thin materials, thin-wall structures, and small components
  • Good near-surface resolution for short sound paths
  • Replaceable delay lines for different contact areas and component profiles
  • High-frequency options for improved resolution on thin materials and small measurement areas
  • Small contact-tip options for confined spaces, curved surfaces, and localized corrosion pits
  • Straight, right-angle, and 45° handle options

Typical Applications

  • Thin sheet and thin-wall tube thickness measurement
  • Pipe and curved-component thickness measurement
  • Plastic and composite thickness measurement
  • Turbine blades and small complex components
  • Local remaining-wall measurement at the bottom of external corrosion pits
  • Near-surface inspection

Selection Guide

Higher frequencies are suitable for thin materials and higher-resolution measurement. Smaller elements and contact tips are suitable for curved surfaces, confined areas, and localized measurement points. Selection should consider the material, target thickness, surface curvature, available contact space, and instrument connection.
