Distance coverage from 0.45 to 12 metres
The BBDM-35KR12M is a 35 kHz air ultrasonic transducer with a reference measuring range of 0.45 to 12 m. This span is specified for medium-range applications including tank and vessel level measurement, industrial equipment ranging, and collision avoidance for vehicles and machinery.
Security and area monitoring are also included in the documented applications. The target surface, installation geometry, acoustic path and associated electronics influence performance within the reference range.

Using the 10.4-degree beam in the installation
The specified -3 dB half-power angle is 10.4 degrees +/-10%. Along the full 0.45-12 m measurement path, nearby vessel walls, fittings, guards or machine structures should be considered in relation to this beamwidth. Target size, surface condition and alignment can affect the returned ultrasonic signal.
For machinery ranging or collision avoidance, both the closest intended target and its movement through the acoustic field need to remain within the planned measurement geometry.
Electrical and environmental matching
The drive and receive circuit should be designed for the listed minimum impedance of 180 ohm and capacitance of 4,500 pF at 1 kHz. Excitation must stay below the 1,500 Vpp peak limit. The operating medium, actual pressure and temperature must remain compatible with the 1 MPa pressure limit, -40 to +80 degrees C range and IP68 protection rating.
