Narrow-field ranging with a 3 cm lead
The BBDM-33KR12M is an air-coupled ultrasonic distance transducer with a 33 kHz center frequency and a reference range of 0.45 to 12 m. It can be evaluated for tank and vessel level measurement, industrial equipment ranging, vehicle and machinery collision avoidance, security systems and area monitoring.
The 8.9-degree half-power angle provides a relatively narrow main field. The specified lead length is 3 cm.

Alignment and closest target
The 0.45 m lower range limit and narrow field both affect mounting. The acoustic axis should remain directed at the target throughout its expected movement, while vessel structures or machine guards must stay outside the field. A tilted liquid surface or small object may reflect energy away from the receiver.
Electrical matching
The electrical design should use the 85-ohm minimum impedance, 6,200 pF capacitance and 1,000 Vpp peak limit.
