Wide-field distance sensing over a 12 m span
The BBDM-30KR12M is an air-coupled ultrasonic distance transducer with a 30 kHz center frequency and a reference range of 0.5 to 12 m. It can be evaluated for tank and vessel level measurement, industrial equipment ranging, vehicle and machinery collision avoidance, security systems and area monitoring.
The specified -3 dB half-power angle is 23 degrees +/-10%. This broad field may support wider area coverage, but it also makes the surrounding geometry a central part of the measurement design.

Managing reflections inside a broad field
Across a 12 m path, the 23-degree field can include vessel walls, braces, fill pipes, guards or adjacent equipment. These surfaces may produce stronger or earlier returns than the intended target at different positions across its full movement.
Electrical matching
The electronics should be matched to the 970-ohm minimum impedance, 3,200 pF capacitance and peak-voltage limit.
