Long-range sensing with a flanged transducer body
The BBDM-18KR50M is an air-coupled ultrasonic distance transducer with an 18 kHz center frequency and a reference range of 1.8 to 50 m. It is intended for large-tank level monitoring, industrial distance measurement, collision avoidance, area monitoring and long-range target detection.

Evaluating the acoustic field
The 14.9-degree half-power angle should be mapped against the target size and the available free path. At long distance, tank internals, walls or machinery inside the field can generate earlier echoes than the intended surface. Air temperature gradients and suspended material can also affect propagation and signal strength.
System integration parameters
System-integration parameters include the target surface, operating temperature and pressure. The electrical interface is characterized by the stated impedance, capacitance and peak-voltage limit. The listed configuration uses a 15 m customer-supplied cable.
