BBDM-16KR50M Long-Range Air Ultrasonic Distance Transducer

BBDM-16KR50M long-range air ultrasonic distance transducer with black threaded housing and cable

Long acoustic paths in industrial environments

The BBDM-16KR50M is an air-coupled ultrasonic transducer for applications that require a long measurement path. Its 16 kHz center frequency and reference range of 1.8 to 50 m make it a candidate for large-tank level monitoring, industrial distance measurement, collision avoidance, area monitoring and long-range target detection.

The specified -3 dB half-power angle is 13 degrees +/-10%. This beam characteristic, the target dimensions and the mounting axis must be assessed together, particularly at the far end of the intended range.

Mounting configurations

Configuration Mounting interfaces
Top and bottom mounting M32 x 1.5 top thread and M108 x 2 bottom thread
Bottom mounting M108 x 2 bottom thread

The 2.4 kg assembly and 10 m cable should be included in the mechanical support and cable-routing plan. Select the mounting version from the actual dimensional drawing rather than from the thread designation alone.

Range validation and selection

The 50 m value is a reference range, not a guaranteed result for every surface or atmosphere. Confirm the target size, orientation and reflectivity, air temperature, required dead zone, installation alignment and possible obstructions. The drive and receive electronics must also accommodate the stated impedance, capacitance and peak-voltage limit.
