Five-metre ranging from a 0.3 m near limit
The BBDM-45KR5M is a 45 kHz air ultrasonic distance transducer with a reference measuring range of 0.3 to 5 m. Applications include tank and vessel level measurement, industrial equipment ranging, collision avoidance for vehicles and machinery, and security or area monitoring.
The 0.3 m near limit and 5 m upper reference distance provide the starting points for layout. Actual results depend on the target size, surface condition and orientation, the mounting arrangement, and the drive and receive electronics used in the equipment.

Allow for the 21-degree acoustic field
The -3 dB half-power angle is specified at 21 degrees +/-10%. Across the intended 0.3-5 m path, tank walls, internal fittings, guards or adjacent machine parts within the beam can produce unwanted echoes. A broad, properly oriented target presents a different echo condition from a small, angled or irregular surface.
Electrical and environmental limits
Peak excitation must remain below 1,500 Vpp. Housing, mounting, cable and connection options are available for equipment integration.
The operating temperature range is -40 to +80 degrees C, the maximum pressure is 3 kgf or 0.3 MPa, and the protection rating is IP68.
