The BBDM-80KR4M is an 80 kHz air ultrasonic distance transducer with a reference range of 0.2 to 4 m. Its listed applications are automation proximity detection, short-range positioning, counting and target detection, and compact level measurement.

The product data includes two acoustic configurations. Their -3 dB half-power angles are 13.4 degrees +/-10% and 11.5 degrees +/-10%; the latter is specified for the M38 x 1.5 threaded configuration.

Select the field for the actual object

For automated counting or proximity detection, target size, surface condition and orientation influence the returned signal. Nearby guides, frames or guards can also produce competing echoes within the selected 13.4-degree or 11.5-degree field.

For short-range positioning, the intended travel should remain within the 0.2-4 m reference interval. Compact level installations also need a clear path through the vessel opening and away from internal fittings.

Electrical and environmental integration

The drive and receive stages should accommodate the 400 ohm minimum impedance and 1,100 pF capacitance at 1 kHz. Peak excitation must remain below 1,500 Vpp. The specified cable length is 2 m.

The operating temperature range is -40 to +80 degrees C, and the pressure limit is 3 kgf or 0.3 MPa. The protection rating is IP68.
