Dual Element Contact Transducer for NDT

Dual element contact transducer for ultrasonic NDT inspection

Product Overview

The dual element contact transducer is an ultrasonic NDT probe series with separate transmit and receive elements. It is used for contact inspection tasks where near-surface response, wall thickness measurement, or curved surface coupling is required.

Dual element straight beam probes are used with compatible ultrasonic inspection instruments, not as complete stand-alone inspection devices. Confirmed applications include remaining wall thickness, corrosion, erosion, near-surface flaw detection, small parts, cladding and weld overlay, bond testing, railroad wheels, core flaws in shafts, bars and billets, and coarse grain materials.

Key Features

  • Dual element transmit/receive structure for ultrasonic contact inspection.
  • Separate transmit and receive elements with a crosstalk barrier.
  • Used for remaining wall thickness measurement, corrosion inspection, and erosion inspection.
  • Supports near-surface flaw detection applications.
  • Improved coupling on curved and rough surfaces.
  • Can reduce noise caused by scattering.
  • Selected configurations can be contoured for curved parts.
  • Connector and cable options include Lemo 00, Microdot, fixed BNC cable, and side mounted MMD depending on configuration.

Applications

This dual element contact transducer is suitable for NDT inspection tasks involving remaining wall thickness, corrosion, erosion, near-surface flaw detection, small parts such as screws, bolts, and pins, cladding, weld overlay, and bond testing.

Additional listed applications include railroad wheels, core flaws in shafts, bars and billets, and coarse grain materials. Selected configurations may be considered where curved or rough contact surfaces require improved coupling.

Product Structure

  • Dual element design: The transducer uses separated transmit and receive elements.
  • Crosstalk barrier: A barrier separates transmit and receive elements in the dual element structure.
  • Curved surface option: Selected configurations can be contoured for curved parts.
  • Connector options: Available connection forms include Lemo 00, Microdot, fixed BNC cable, and side mounted MMD depending on model family.
