Installation Methods
The UFM-1510 supports multiple transducer mounting methods depending on pipe size and signal conditions.
- V method measuring pipe size: 25 mm to 400 mm
- Z method measuring pipe size: 100 mm to 800 mm
- N method is described in the manual as not commonly used
The manual states that the V method is considered the standard method, while the Z method is generally recommended for larger diameter pipes or when signal conditions are poor.
Installation Site Guidelines
For accurate measurement, the installation site should be selected where the fluid flow profile is fully developed. The pipe section should remain full of liquid, such as a vertical pipe with upward flow or a full horizontal pipe.
- Select a section with sufficient straight pipe length upstream and downstream
- Ensure the pipe surface temperature is within the transducer temperature limits
- Choose a section where the inner pipe condition is free from excessive corrosion or scaling when possible
- Clean the pipe surface before mounting the transducers
- Apply sonic coupling compound to the transducer face and pipe surface
- Mount transducers parallel with the flow direction
Operation and Interface
The flow meter uses a window-based interface for parameter setup, measurement display, diagnostics, and output configuration. According to the manual, operators can access more than 100 independent windows for functions such as pipe parameter entry, flow totalizer display, setup options, communication settings, and diagnostics.
- Displays flow rate and velocity
- Displays day, monthly, and yearly totalizer flow
- Displays signal strength and signal quality
- Supports zero setting and manual calibration functions
- Stores last input parameters for automatic use at next power on
